BOOSTING IGR IN THE NIGERIAN POLYTECHNICS: THE ROLES OF ICT CENTRES

The greatest challenge faced by government-owned tertiary institutions in the country today is how to maintain and possibly improve the various infrastructures in their institutions due to inadequate funds from the government. Hence, the need to look inward on how to improve their internally generated revenue (IGR). Equally, the government in her recent agreements with the various unions in the higher institutions directed the unions to meet with their Governing Council on how to pay certain allowances approved for the unions from the institution’s IGR. This paper examines the roles of ICT centres in our Polytechnics and how they can be made a viable source of boosting the IGR.
