Bacteriological analysis was carried out on twenty (20) well water samples in Osogbo metropolis. Total faecal count for all the samples ranges from 0.2 x 102cfu/ml to 2.0 x 104cfu/ml, the total coliform count also ranged from 1.5 x 102 – 5.9 x 104 cfu/ml and microbial load between 1.7 x 102 – 7.0 x 104cfu/ml. Some of the water samples showed high concentration of Escherichia coli that exceed the standard limit of zero as stated by World Health Organization. The Bacterial isolates identified were Escherichia coli, Pseudmonas species, Bacillus subtilis, Enterobacter species, Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysentariae. Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Streptococcus faecalis. The results of this analysis indicate that the water sampled from Aganna compound were fit for consumption while water samples from OkeOlujin,BalogunIkujenyo, Jagun and Akoda all in Osogbo local government area were not fit for consumption because of their high microbial load values.
