In this paper, an attempt has been made to understand the influence of metakaolin as a partial replacement substance for ordinary Portland cement in concrete. Also, the paper presents the work to determine optimum replacement quantity of metakaolin with cement in concrete. An experimental investigation has been carried out to determine the compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength of concrete containing metakaolin partially replacing cement at various percentages. The cement was replaced by metakolin at 5%, 10%, and 15%. It is found that at 28days, the compressive strengths of 5%, 10%, and 15% partial replacement of cement with metakaolin are 28.9N/mm2, 28.2N/mm2, and 26.1N/mm2 respectively. Also, the split tensile strength test has 2.84N/mm2, 2.76N/mm2, and 2.69N/mm2 for 5%, 10%, and 15% partial replacement of cement with metakolin respectively while flexural strength test has 3.75N/mm2, 3.72N/mm2, and 3.67N/mm2 for 5%, 10%, and 15% partial replacement of cement with metekolin respectively. The optimum replacement of cement with metakaolin is found to be 10%.
